A photo gallery of close-ups of some of the details included on some of our Classic Thunder scale hydroplanes has been added to our web site.

Jim:

Do most of the guys make their own detail components (lift hooks, steering wheels, etc) or is there somebody who makes them for the club? I am looking for these items and don't quite have the skill (or know how) right now to make them myself.

Thanks

Rick

A little bit of both.

One member vacuum forms allison and rolls royce motors, but some build their own.

I built an aluminum steering wheel for my boat, but have broken it enough times that I now use a bicycle wheel from a "finger bike".

Most drivers are action figures. Some use a novelty golf ball life vest. Sometime I may build a rubber mold to create urethane foam drivers and motors.

My dash is a piece of aluminum with holes drilled in it. The gauges are laser printed.

It just takes a little ingenuity and thought to come up with some of these items.
