I'm looking at 12 cell sport hydros. would like good run time,
cool set set up and ability to stay on the prop in corners,
assuming I'm not over proped. Probably not to race.
Below are three hulls that look good to me with probably
a Graupner 700BB 8.4 motor and cooling coil.
Hulls #1 Bandit Round nose
#2 BBY War Eagle
#3 Hydro Marine Budwieser
I'm a retired nitro outrigger guy who knows nothing about
fast electrics except from the internet so any input or
comments from you guys would be very helpfull!
Thanks Don T.
P.S. ESC-?
don,
i would recomend Andy Kunz's UL 125 (unlimited light) hydro. i have one on a 700 BB motor and it is great. goes 30+ mph. it is the ideal 12 cell. heres a link to who sells the hull- http://www.bbyracing.com/elechydrohulls.asp
ESC means Electronic Speed Control. this is what is used to control the speed of the motor.
if you need more info, look around or ask. there is a lot of info on the net about this stuff.
good luck,
-mark:)
the boat on that link is listed as "Unlimited Light UL1 ABS Plastic Price List" just a little way down the page. hope this helps.

Mark,
Thanks for the info on the Ul-125. I have looked at that
boat several times. What about ABS plastic compared
to fiberglass? Also, I know what an ESC is, I just wanted
to know which one would work well with this motor.
If any one out there has knowledge of one of the three
hulls that I mentioned, please let me know. I really
like the looks of those.
Thanks again mark!

I think my signature below says it all.
Andy
for electric motor hydros, ABS plastic is best(in my opinion) because it is lighter, usually costs less, and seems to hold up better on impacts. that is why most my hulls are made out of it.

Andy,
I think you'r right. Looks like the SC3-LP would cover just about
anything in 12 cells that I could come up with. Very nice
controllers!
Thanks,

Personally I think that you should go with the Hydro and Marine Miss Budwiser. i have that boat and it runs really good and is very fast. You could use the Astroflight 212d speed contol or a RC Hydros speed control. I think that you should get the 700 Neo motor rather than the 700bb 8.4. I run a 30 series 4 turn plet with the torque ring.

Hi Don,
Any of the hulls mentioned should work great for you for a LSH, although I have not seen the Hydro & Marine Budwieser, the other Hydro & Marine hulls I have seen were of high quality.
Plastic hulls work very well in LSH if you take the time to sharpen the edges. Since you have raced nitro, you will probably start thinking about a "P" sooner then a novice would. I want to caution you on plastic hulls and running the state of the art Hacker motors, they can really tear up a plastic hull. I have had 2 plastic hull that worked great with Pletts & Aveox, as soon as I changed to a Hacker, they developed stress cracks every time I took them out. I am not alone, I have seen almost every other plastic boat running Hackers develop stress cracks, some so big the boat sank! If your only interested in LSH, the plastic will be fine. You can always buy a glass hull for a second "P" sport hydro later.
The ESC is a no brainer, either the RC-Hydros SC3 lite if you only want it for LSH or the SC3 if you think you will need something that can handle more amps down the road.
I would also suggest spending a few more bucks and getting the Graupner NEO 700BB 8.4 or the Cordite 775 NEO.

Dan,
Did you mean the 700 BB ( 9.6 ) NEO? I can't find an 8.4 NEO.
Don T.
( What is a NEO anyway? )

Yes, sorry, Don! I shouldn't cut & paste, or at least read what I cut and paste more carefuly! You want the 9.6 NEO. NEO is short for Neodymium magnets, it will produce more torque then standard ferrite magnets but less RPM's.
BTW: another alternative to plastic and glass boats is wood. I have a Doug Forrester wood "P" sport hydro that is ballistic! Also RRR should have their new Kunz designed shovel nose laser cut wood hull out soon.

Thanks to all,
Gotta go to bead now. Unfortunately, you'll hear from me
again.

Don,
If you haven't purchased by the week after Christmas, come pay a visit to the Toledo show.
There are some pretty good things to see there.
Thanks for the kudos.

If you haven't already bought a plastic hull you should consider wood. In my opinion wood hulls are the best! if you crash it just replace any broken pieces instead of the entire hull. Wood is just as light and often lighter than ABS hulls. Wood hulls have sharper edges than ABS hulls which means less drag which means more speed.
Cheaper too! I can sell you a laser cut wood hydro kit cheaper than any ABS boat on the market.
I don't just like wood kits because thats what I sell. I sell wood kits because they're the best hulls $ can buy.

Hey
Also Another boat that i would suggest you look at is the Hydro & Marine Viper 2. I also have this boat and it runs better than my Miss Budwiser boat.

My ABS hulls cost me about $10 less than your wood kits cost you. I sold them for $35 most of the time.
It was good talking to you today. Phone is always so much better than digital!

Guess Andy had them cheaper. Wood is still pretty cheap.

The difference was volume. I think just about everybody who visits here must have one of them.
