cat question

i have the scat cat 32 and was going to buy a 290/40/5t plett. for it. i wanted to know if that would be a good motor for it. i am going to power it by 18 or 24 cells... what amount of cells will get it to preform better?

i also was going to buy a RC hydro speed control for it. is this a good choice over the atroflight controllers? thanks for any help. cant wait to get the boat built.

I would probably go for the 6 or 7 turn Plett on 18-24 cells. I used a 6T in my 36" hydro on 18 cells and it ran very cool. For 24 cells I would want at least 6.

The Astro costs more an is air-cooled only. It also does not have opto-isolation, allowing noise to enter the receiver directly from the motor. The Astro also has fewer FETs, resulting in a higher resistance (ie, more wasted energy, more heat) than the ones I make. Astro's are designed to be manufactured in large volumes, mine are designed for absolute maximum performance.

The Astro's are available from more sources, but that is due largely to the willingness of the company to be involved in the large distribution chains which require to be able to buy them at 60% off retail. I have selected NOT to participate in that myself, preferring to get the product to the customer with as few opportunities to mark them up by intermediaries. As a result, you get a better product (my opinion) at a lower cost.

If you want to buy one of my ESCs, in the USA you have the choice of BBY (www.bbyracing.com) or myself (www.rc-hydros.com) as your source, and in Europe there are two sources as well (www.pandanmodelboats.co.uk and www.electro2000.freeserve.co.uk).

I'm sure there are enough users of each here who will give their opinions on which way is best for you.

Your choices are the Astro 207D (air-cooled, 4 FETs) or RC-Hydros.com SC3-HP (water-cooled, 6 FETs) or SC5-HP (air-cooled, 7 FETs).

I think, but am not positive, that all the current NAMBA records held by brushed motors were set using RC-Hydros.com controls.

yeah but if u included them w/ the esc they would get used, we are all little kids and love stickers!!! i have 22 stickers on my transmitter! and god knows how many on my boat (only on the non racing ones) stickers are fun, you dont have to put in a whole sheet just one or 2 -Jeff

i agree the decals would be used if you included them with your esc's. it would get you more sales if you had the decals come with the esc's. more people would have your logo on their boat. a man would use them if he had them, he probably wouldnt always go through the trouble of having you send one out to just get a decal. all im saying is it would be esier to just include them with the esc.
