get a subscription! i think that it is way over priced, $23.... somthing, for 6 issues, i think that it is a rip off, when i get 12issues of r/c car action (same publisher) for $20 and there is ton more to read it is 2x as thick as RCBM, well that is just my oppinion!

If you want a thicker RCBM then you have to have more advertisers.
To have more advertisers, you have to sell more boats and stuff.
To sell more boats, you need more model boaters.
To have more model boaters, it needs to be more interesting and available and affordable.
This is why LSH and Eco/Offshore are on the ballot.
Do your part to help - BUY BUY BUY!

...one thing that RCBM needs to do is a bit more electrics, all i see is the nitro boats! Then you just don't read the whole mag! There is reguilar coverage of scale and sail. My column is in almost every issue, and there is usually at least one FE article per issue too. But guys, I cannot do it all alone! Unless others contribute articles, that's all you'll get....Gary Finley's construction articles are great, but we need more!!
Rest assured that the nitro, gas, sail and scale readers complain too. The problem is you cannot please everyone, and no single group has enough people to support their own 'pure' magazine of the scope that RCBM has. Most readers don't know it, but without the other AirAge magazines to support it, RCBM probably wouldn't exist. Andy's right, there aren't enough advertisers, and that's one reason the subscription price seems high. The price isn't a "rip off" to those who know about how business works.

Be glad you aren't an advertiser then.
My subscription costs me a couple grand a year.

My subscription costs me a couple grand a year. But how much does that "couple grand" make you in additional business? Apparently more than the advert cost or you wouldn't bother to advertise.... :)

I honestly don't know at this point.
Every now and then I get an order because of RCBM that I know of - people who don't have a computer. Just today I was talking with an OEM who is hoping to use them in his product, and the only way he knew about me was through RCBM. That one contact may well pay for several years of ads, but it might be nothing too.
I don't have the resources (time and motivation) to do any research on it to learn, but I'm still in the black so I'll keep doing it. Stupid, yes, but at least it keeps my advertising out. Some day soon I would like to research this but we have some keyboarding to do first.

Hey Andy, I think you and all the other business owners are doing just fine. I had my own business (Industrial automation and controls) for 10 years and it's no cake walk! Advertising is good but my best results came from "word of mouth" and because you do it well and honest! From what I see in this hobby there is alot of free help, advise, and gimes. So many times I've see people on this site helping others, and saying things like, "hey don't worry I'll just send you one of those things, just give me your address".
My wife subscribes to about 4 different NASCAR mags, and says I'm nuts for hunting down RCBM.
I guess it's part for enjoying the hobby, the hunt for any thing boat related. I too need to get my subscription sent to RCBM. Hobby People and Pegasus Hobbies close by, says not enough people asking for the mag. Fast Electrics are my choice but I learn alot from gasers and sailors too. Anyways just thinking outloud. Keep it in the black, so we can all profit from you being in business. Thanks ...C-ya
PS I'll email you my address for a sticker too!

Make sure I get your URL too. I do custom controls. ESCs are just a sideline.
