Hey guys...

Well I have had several requests for certain features to be added to the board... along with my own "requests"... I have been able to find and upload all of them Except Spell Checker... The spell checker software is installed within the board system... its ready to go... BUT... SpellChecker.net is the service we have to use to add the feature... and SpellChecker.net costs us $150 a year to have an account... SO... Here's my question... Are you/we willing to pay for it? Is it worth the money?

Let me know what you think!

PS: do you like the new Icon's below?

I likely wouldn't use it, but it did remind me that I need to get a donation or something going ya'll's way. How bout a New Orleans Saints T-shirt? :) No,,..just kidding. Maybe a Jazz Fest or something...

I no sure we realy ned one. I can spel proop and cells and ESC pretty goode.

But wood dey use it?

Actually, I think it is a good idea...but a person has to use it. It would also be good to be able to input words since many of our words are not in the std system.

Thanks for continuing to make this site better, Donnie!

Even though my mother tongue is not English, I would not use a spell checker.

I am sure most of us could live without it. Why spend money on something like that!

I've got spellcheck that operates on the readers end. It comes in 12 ounce cans and bottles.

3 or 4 of them and even Matt's posts look grammatically correct!

I've never worried about someone's spelling on internet posts. I can usually figure out what they're trying to say. I'm not going to afford them any more or less respect based on their spelling!

Besides, there are a lot of folks for which English is not their native language. I'm humbled that they would choose to learn my language to communicate with me - I haven't learned their language, so who am I to critique their English?!

The truth is that Matt's brain is just working so hard and fast that he can't bother with trivial items like spelling it out correctly for the rest of us morons.

It's kind of like Stephen Jobs (Apple's founder). His closet is full of many sets of the same thing (black mock turtle necks and jeans), so he doesn't have to waste valuable brain power deciding what to wear every day.

Nix the checker and save the money Donnie. It's kind of fun deciphering some of the encryption that's posted.

I think $150 a year is totally out of line the spelling isn't that bad.

Generally, I think the spelling is pretty good on this board...probably related to the intelligence it takes to run electric...I've said before I'd be willing to shoot you (Donnie/Don) a few bucks to help support the board, but I'd rather spend it on server time or another feature than on spell check.

And Matt's posts are art...spell checking would take all the joy out of them! :D

George

The spellchecker would be overkill.

No one seems to really care how the grammar goes here.

When a person makes the inevitable mistake (as will happen with everyone) and asks, for example, a question about different prastics. Well, some days some good natured ribbing will be applied and other days it will go without anyone seeming to notice. No big deal at all.

We are all Family here and most of the time when the spelling is a little off you can still get the meaning so for a $150 bucks I don't think so when I get stumped I use my spell check on my AOL email then when I get my word I just close it 8)

A spell check while a handy tool, i beleive isnt nesscessary do have on a forum. Most mistakes are silly and many people do know what the word is. This is in no way a formal meeting place so why have it.

Cant be creed, (creeds old stuff is cool) new stuff is soft (way out of line). Aerosmith may be. I go for metallica, and Pearl Jam the really cool stuff. You can forget AC/DC way cool. Its old the stuff is way older than me but its addictive stuff. Escpecally when your all your mates and alot of your family are into it.

Save the bucks................... some of the most intelligent people I know can't spell worth a hoot and it's no reflection on their abilities. This is a hobby forum and not a place for post-grad students to showcase their book larnin'.
