I am still using trans & receivers from the early 1990's with good results. But I am looking for a new Futaba system. Fm is much more, is it worth the extra money?

Depends on what you are doing! Race ,Play or whatever. The FM radio is great I personally use the Airtronics M-8. Never have any trouble glitching or other wise. FM is definatly worth the money and the good thing is I believe that they are priced just about the same as AM. Although the 2, 3, 10 ,20 Model memory Radios go for a little bit more. So just depends on what you do Race, Play and what you can afford cause AM radios are still good, Just FM gives you a better signal. Not security! Sorry, BV

I'm still on, and when thereare 4 or 5 boats in the water I pick up many gliches ( you know you are going full power and you see your boat slow for less than a sec then back on a plane)about 75% of our club is on Fm. So what you do is go where you go and when others are running (make sure that you are not on the same channel) set up your boat put it in the water and have someone else walk away to about the distance you would be at when running and you will see gliches.:D

Louis,
FM is the way to go. It is much better at ignoring the noise from the motors than AM is.
I sent you an e-mail also about some related stuff.

Didn't Hobby lobby just have a sale on Hitec Lynx FM radios for 65 bucks? I know you can buy an AM radio for a little cheaper, but not much. Just do a little shopping around. BUT remember, It pays to pay a few extra bucks sometimes to buy it from a hobby shop or someplace you know will give you some support if you need it.
See ya,
Dick
