I ran my Astro 207D. It is amazing the speed difference adding 2 cells...the UL really comes alive and compares to the Pletts on 12 cells.
I was still spinning the x642. Just get a good thrill on a few laps and then bring it in...at this point things are still just warm...much more and it gets very warm very quickly.
I ran this with the 8.4v 700...not the NEO 700 that I now run in it but it would handle it. I would go down to a 442 for the NEO on 14 cells.

No, the 207 never got warm with any combo until I tried the 290/20/4 in my Scat Cat...and then I think it was time for it to go.
I found that the motor needed some maitenance and that could have done it. My RC Hydro ESC does not even get warm with the combo so the 207 was ready to go. It has 3 years of hard running on it. Probably better off because Bob at Astro is going to upgrade it with new parts
THe 9.6 will work even easier with 14 cells.
I suggest getting one of RC Hydros ESCs or the 207d...both great units. One reason I like the 207d is because I can use it without worry for up to around 24 cells...which I will never run.
There are many great ESCs out there. ASTEC also carries a good one to fit these needs. Allan is a great to work with.

Jeff,
Remember there is a 10-24 cell SC3 and SC5 available as well. Not just the 6-14 you were using.
