Jim,

I have had very good luck with (GP) Gold Peak Batteries. These are NiMh 1500ma hr variety and now GP have introduced 1800ma hr. Nexcell is another brand that also has NiMh 1800ma now, but I have not tried. GP are not readily available in the states, at least IL, but you can buy them off ebay. GP is popular in Europe and Asia where I happen to be right now.

I have not seen a adapter for Futaba radios that support NiMh, so I would suggest an external charger unless you watch them closely so the temperature does not increase to point of causing damage.

So do you charge them with your regular charger such as an Astroflight 110D.
Thanks

I just use(buy) Radio Shack 700mAh rechargeables Ni-Cads.
They fit like and look like regular AA's and I use a Futaba wall mount cheapey charger for all my receivers.
I have a Futaba for my nitro car, Hitec for elec plane and Hitec for my boats. The Futaba charger fits the Hitec, too and recharges all those Radio Shack Ni-Cads just fine.
The batts last a good long time and I really only recharge maybe twice a season.
AA's are AA's, so why spend a fortune for elaberate ones when I can put that money to better batt use- like some good stick pacs to run my boats.

Jim,

I use a Energizer charger. It's in most stores, charges AAA AA C and D batts. I do not use a radio pack as I use individual cells for all my kids toys and my toys. If you are going to make a pack, charge at the C/10 rate, in this case 1800/10 or 180ma.

Jim,

I charge all my rechargeables (no Li cells) with my Astro 110D.

So I could leave them in the radio, make an adapter and just charge them at c/10 on my astroflight. So from what I have read a good set of at least 700 mah AA batteries nicad or nimh would last for way more than a days worth of radio usage?

Just tired of buying alkaline AA's

That should be fine Jim. The advantage od the 1800 packs are for computer radios that really suck the power. I would go through 2 packs a day in mine, but I'd also be runnning 5 or 6 classes. With the 1800's They have no problem making the day.

I also use the 110D astro to charge.

See ya,
Dick

I only use an older Futaba 2pdf fm radio and only run in Division I Classic Thunder So they should work fine for me.
Thanks Dick
