Just now trying to learn more about what I am throwing on my boats and not just an x642 or 645 but what it all means.
here is a good link for big boats but still gets the info across.
Hey...check out the sanding your hull item...works on big boats too!
Any other good links from any of you would be appreciated.

Jack Trecey is in our club in New Orleans He has some info on props printed out at the Hobby shop it tells you how much forward movement per turn of each prop (usually way over my head) I know some of the other guys will have sites for you soon ,or just email Jack ,But if you are using a 642 i do know that a 645 will be the next size to try, I mostly use the 6 pitch props as I have not had much luck with the 440.

Jeff,,, Maybe I can Give some basics,
lets take the basic octura 440 prop, the first number 4 is usually the pitch in this case octura uses this to identify there 1.4 pitch X dia, the second 2 numbers are the indication in mm of the diameter of the prop ie 40mm so basically what the 440 means is 1.4 x 40 mm,,,, and I believe this is suppose to be how far it travels per rev, then take into account slippage, etc etc,,,, but it gives you an idea,,,,,, the 642 you mention relates to the 1.6 pitch on the 6 series, props the 42 is the diameter,,,,, then theres that hole xy and p thing,,,,,,this is amount of lift the prop is offering ie x is low lift,,,, y is a little more , etc etc ,,,,, many of the fine linked websites here have prop charts etc,,, and some of the serious guys can perhaps give a better explanation, but I hope I helped a little,,,, take a look at this example link http://www.fastelectrics.com/props.asp, cheers ed
