Is it a problem when using belt on 700 motor to run it continuously in reverse rotation??
If yes what exacty? Power loss?higher temperature? Shorter motor life?
I'm asking that because on the Graupner jet unit 2340 they use belt with 2:1 ratio in 700 motor.

Hi,

Depending the cell count you will use you will destroy the motor soon... Because Speed 700 Series have some "advance" they have only one direction of rotation...

Antomo,

Is the motor output shaft pointing to the back of the boat or the front of the boat? If it points to the front, the motor is really spinning the correct direction. If it points to the back, you will have to spin in the wrong direction.

Hello Jorgen,

Actually that's the other way around, on a belt drive the shaft would be spinning the same direction as the motor unlike a gear drive where the shaft would spin the opposite way. So, if the motor is facing the transom you would be fine.

Paul.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
The motor shaft shows at the front and the motor runs with revers polarity.
So if i am not wrong i lose power due to wrong advanced of the motor.
how i can solve it??

Hello,

Antomo, maybe you can use a gear drive (not a belt drive) with the motor facing the hydro jet. This way you'll invert the rotation direction.

There is a 700 made to run either...look at the Graupner site and use Part # 7307.

What about if I open it and change the timing??
Let’s say from +5 degrees to –5 degrees.
