Hey Jay, Glad you found your lathe, but why an EMCO, just curious, anyway , I bought the harbor freight/micromark/enco mini lathe, works great,,,, I also picked up the mini milling machine from enco also very good, thought I would post this website for you if you ever decide to get more machines ,,,,,,,www.lathemaster.com, I bought my rotary table ther cheap, 139 usd with the indexing plates,,,, just a thought,,, cheers ed oh good luck with your lathe,,,,

Thanks, the info is appreciated.(URL doesn't work though?)It sure seems like those asian machines are pretty popular!Once you blueprint them(I plan on doing it to my Emco too),& some other tricks they are more accurate then you'll ever need! It's all set-up & patience I guess.I am very interested in the mini mill though,so much less money then the other ones!Did you do any work to yours when you bought it or was it good to go out of the box? Some awesome web sites out there on this stuff too.(like I don't have enough hobbies now!) http://www.tedatum.com/thms/ http://www.angelfire.com/ks/mcguirk/mwlinks.html
P.S.The girlfriend says the "metal stuff smells bad",maybe that will keep her out of my shop!(basement & garage)hehehe! L8R,Jay.

Jay, The Mill is made by the same company that makes the mini-lathe,,,, and it needs about the same amount of blueprinting, however, I am using it and used it right out of the box,,, all the play adjustments were minor, I bought a rotary table for it from lathemaster (baton rouge, la) it was cheap, and looks good, especially the price, the mill is cheapest from enco, and the mini lathe was cheapest from harbor freight,,,, many companies are selling them under their own name, my understanding is these machines were originally atlas machines,,,, who knows, couple of tips, with the lathe, get some thread cutting oil from home depot, it's like half the price of regular cutting oil, and there is a really good place for bits and acccessories right here in NYC, I think it's victor or victory, i'll check & get back to ya,,,, remember your safety glasses, cheers ed
