Here's the story. I sold a plane to a guy just before Christmas(the 16th of Dec)It got to hime the week after Christmas damaged. The guy sent me this nasty email that he wanted to send the plane back and he wanted his money back.......fair enough......The plane was insured so he brought it to UPS and filed a claim. UPS policy.....they sent the plane to me and will be sending me a check for the claim.

The guy called UPS and found out that I insured the plane for $100 more than what I sold the plane for. Now the idiot expects me to send the damaged plane back to him and the money I get from the insurence. I told them he gets a refund of the cost of the auction and the shipping no more. Thats not good enough for him he wants it all........I'm so sick of people and that feel like they're entitled to something. Why do some people think that they can have their cake and eat it too?

Am I in the right?

why does he feel that he gets the extra $100??? how can he justify that? is there any rational explanation to why he thinks that he gets $100 more just because he bid on somthing, give him his money back for the bid and shipping, then tell him to screw off. plus the busted plane too! what a moreoff!

The auction ended on the 16th and he wanted it there for Christmas. He thinks that because it didn't arrive in time for Christmas I owe him the extra because he had to spend the time finding another present.

give him his money back for the bid and shipping, then tell him to screw off. plus the busted plane too!

Thats the plan except for giving him the plane.......The plane is repairable(just a hole in the covering $10 fix). I tried to explain to him that if he had purchased the plane from a store and it was damaged he wouldn't keep the plane and the refunded money, but he's too thick to understand that.

Before he returned it I gave him the option of fixing the plane for him but that wasn't good enough. I wonder if he didn't trash the plane when it got to him thinking he could make a buck on it.....collect the insurence fix the plane and sell it.

If this guy lived even remotely close I'd give him the beating of a lifetime:mad:

It really bothers me when someone demands more than what they should get. If the plane was damaged in shipping to him, Christmas, or not, he knew the risk before he won the auction. Things can get damaged in shipping, that's a fact of life. Just because Christmas is around the corner does not warrant preferential (and blatantly excessive) treatment in the case of an incident.

In my book, his foul was in the first offensive email he sent you regarding the plane being "broken".

The point was that this was bought on auction as a gift for Christmas. He made up for the damaged shipping in buying another gift, his money for this transaction being refunded, what would any DECENT person say? I'd think he should say this, "Well, I guess I learned, wait until the last minute to buy a Christmas gift and having it shipped, it COULD be damaged in shipping.". DUH!

And, in "owing" him because UPS damaged it, that's bullcrap. Does the local hardware store refund me for my time and gas money when I have to return a defective item? Nope. For that matter, does any warranty for any item in need of service (PC, car, etc) fully cover all inconvenience? The answer, a firm NO. If a problem occurs, you'll spend some time, perhaps some effort, and that will be a loss, regardless.

Now, is it possible this bozo might try to take you to court? Who knows, but sounds like one of those people that do well in life by taking things that aren't theirs.

This brings up a whole slew of "bad character traits" that I get angry about.... People with handicap parking plates on their cars that are clearly of good health, people that cut in line, people that flip you off in traffic after they were the ones to cut in front of you, people that riffle through shelves in a store and leave a mess behind, people that drop items on the ground in a store and return them to shelves to retrieve a new unharmed item, fast food restaurants where the drive thru fouls your order 2 out of 3 times, the list goes on and on. I digress.... :)

Short story, I saw a decent price on the website for a PC for a company I worked for. I called up, asking for this remanufactured PC at the advertised price. My thought, hey, they're trying to get rid of them. I ordered this PC, gave all my info, credit card, etc. Well, about a half hour later, I got a call, the price posted was not valid. The salesperson knew I was an employee, and I didn't want to ask for any more than was fair. He asked if I still wanted the PC for $400 more, NO WAY! I didn't push the issue, and ended the call with the order cancelled. I thought about this mess, and kept asking myself, what if I was a customer? I WAS a customer, I just didn't put up any fight over the advertised price. Did he say no because I was an employee? Would they have done the same if I wasn't an employee? I still don't think it was fair. They were pretty unfair quite often, I've written tons of letters, nothing ever mattered. They closed the site, and paid me for two months, and gave me a severance check. And to think, I was about to quit.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If you haven't already, refund what he paid (item, shipping is up to you), and call it a day. Be prepared for bad feedback, and word a nice reply to get the facts out. With the facts in hand, decent people will read and make the right determination on you as a seller. Crooks should know from the start, they won't get over on you...

Good Luck!
Paul

Oh god, please don't get me started on an eBay/moron rant today.

Bad behaviour should *never* be rewarded. Tell him to pee up a rope. If he squawks and posts bad feedback reply with a good to the point follow up feedback.

Tha sad truth is you are going to get unreasonable or just plain broken people buying from you if you sell on eBay or other online venues. All you can do is just deal with it. If you are a good respected seller then your feedback will tell the true tale. If you are a dirtbag seller that will also tell a tale.

Move on with life. this is just too silly to hold onto.

Now where I have read those words before, Mike?

Did you get everything taken care of with our favorite person?

Yes Andy I did. He was quite shocked by my 'reversal' of decision and has noted a credit in my account file.

I am happy for now.

After reading the 6 emails I've gotten from this guy(one being a copy of the actual auction???)I realized that the guys mentally ill(or just really stupid). He is completely incapable of rational thought. I've decided I'm done arguing with him....If you argue with a fool it's hard to tell who's who....

If I get negative feedback it's no big deal....It will be my first.....MOST of my other transactions have gone perfectly.

Heres my opinion;

There are just some people who just shouldent use computers. Just like how there are some people who just shouldent drive.

yeah.....I decided to stop using that user name because I'm no longer part of CCBoatworks, and because PJ(my old partner) still uses it to sell boats.....yes I know we had our difficulties on ebay as CCBoatworks, but since I've gone solo no(almost):) problems.

I even remember our transaction:p

Which means he still has your money.

Feb 21-23 is the WRAMS Show. I'm not sure if I'll be going yet (too much work around here) but maybe a little immoral support would help.
