This is one of my favorite classes, I will not race it at the nationals and leave it for the newer racers. That being said for club racing my pick is the SS Hydro! Dan Chase won the class with this boat at the August heats.

These three vendors all have LSH options, and each will have different opinions as to what is best. All those opinions by the way can be backed up with successful results at various events.

I'm new to all this, but it seems to me that a lot of elements go into what is competitive. Among them, the hull, the setup and the skills of the driver.
I buy mine cause they look good. <GRIN>

My BBY SS limited sport hydro has never lost a single heat... ever. Even when I handed the transmitter to complete novices. At August Heats, before I switched to a RC-Hydros SC-3 lite, my Castle esc shutdown on me 2 laps into a heat, I almost went a lap down before it started back up. I won the heat with a half lap on second place. I recommend the BBY SS highly.
Hello Guys,
Don't forget you could always scratch build a hull. (1/12 scale) Andy Kunz @ RC-Hydros.com has plans for a really nice Slo-Mo Shovel which is my choice for LSH this year.

I no longer have them - they are on their way via Snail Mail down to the Deep South for the new owner to distribute in whatever manner he pleases.
I'll leave it to him to announce availability.

Thanks Andy -
Andy's Slo Mo Kits in 12th scale will be available in a few weeks on this site under the heading RumRunnerhobbies.com
Andy did an excellent job laying out this boat and it needs to be available. We are going to see to that. Stand by ...it won't be long now.
Did I mention in LSH that 'Wood Boats Rule' the waters of America!

The laser kit is 24" which is 1/14th scale. The 28" boat (plans only) is 1/12th. There is vinyl for both of them in the box you're getting. The 24" boat is going to be much more competitive I believe in the class.
The 36" boat is 1/9.5th scale. I think one of Andrew's Neo 800's would be appropriate for it.
Remind me to put you in touch with another Floridian who has built several of each of these boats, Don.

Your LSH hydro sounds great. Can you give us a bit more info on it. I think the LSH rules specify a lot of the details, but I am not very familiar with the rules. Is this a 12 cell, Speed 700, flex shaft set up? Any special things you have done to the boat? Did you build it stock as it came from BBY? Any pics? I know your boats always look great so I am curious to see what this one looks like.

Billh this is a 12 cell class with a speed 700 motor (can be neo) and drive line is up to you either flex or straight.

Hi Guys, when I built my SS it was built to check the validity of the LSH class. I built it on the cheap like a newbie would likely build it. I used a Futaba Magnum AM radio with the stock 3003 servo that came with it and the 4 AA receiver pack (HEAVY!), a homemade wire drive and all BBY hardware. The motor is a Fine Design Cordite 775 NEO driving a stock Octura x642 prop. I did take a lot of time joining the hull to make sure it was square and spent a lot of time making sure the drive was straight. The only special addition to the hull was I added a piece of marine ply to the outside of the transom to sharpen the edge. I'll get some measurements and post them later. As far as pics, the hull is all white ABS with a black windshild. I have some graphics I need to finish for the '98 Elam that will go on it.

To add to the post above, I was running a Castle 55 esc until I burned it up. I now run the RC-Hydros SC3 lite exclusively. New mods are on the way for the boat this year.
Hey Andy,
A 36" version?????
Paul.
