I can't seem to keep the Velcro for batteries taped down to the inside of fiberglass hull. Once the glue gets the least bit wet it comes off. I have tried CA but that didn't work. Any hints on holding batteries down?

Steven...
Its probably the type your using thats giving you trouble more than the fiberglass hull itself. First, just for precaution, clean all the old glue and mess from the old velcro, then wipe the area its going with rubbing alcohaul, and let it dry. The brand name to use is VELCRObrand. Home depot and walmart sell it. I've never had a piece pull up from a glass, wooden or plastic hull. Hope this helps a little.

clean the surface with acetone or thinners?? what ever, and use waterproof contact adhesive put on both boat (where velcro goes in boat) then put some on the velcro almost instant adhersion leave for a couple of minutes and your ready to race

I use "Velcro" brand velcro, and have had zero problems, stuck to fiberglass great.. a real pain to remove after though. :p

I agree Velcro brand is the best. When I have any problems
with it sticking though I use just a little CA glue to help. It doesn't make any harder to get out than usual either.

The best deal on velcro that I found is at SAMS CLUB. Its velcro brand 4inches wide 20 foot long for $14.00 thats alot of velcro. Look in the office supplys it comes in white or black. But if you dont clean the surfce like Trey said frist, its going to be hard to get anything to stick.

I agree with the foregoing... If it's Epoxy glass then the only solution I have found is to do all the above then use CA.

Hi Guys
The absolute best thing for gluing velcro to batteries, wood or fibreglass is Goop, Shoe Goo etc. I've never had it come loose but it is possible to remove it from batteries without tearing the shrink-wrap! :D
