Hi all. Love this new site. Here is my question.

I use all Deans and General Silicone wires. I have been using the 12 AWG but really find it hard to fit things and even to tin all the way thru the wire.

My question is with the quality of this wire...would a smaller size like the 13 or 14 work as well? I realize the 12 AWG is probably the best but is it overkill and does a person really need this fat stuff?

How many use the 12 and how many use smaller with fine results.

I just feel it could be easier to work with and solder.

Any tips are appreciated. I use 12 AWG for 6 cells up to 12-14 cells.

Hey Jeff,
I only use 12 any more. It is tough to work with at times. I'm just glad they don't make 10. If they do, I'm not sure I want to know about it!

See ya,
Dick

We use 4 at work for "low power" setups (under 100A). The big stuff is 535 cable - about 1.25" dia of copper.

The wire gauges we use in modeling are something compared to real world applications. Good thing UL isn't watching over our backs!
