Welcome to Doug Forrester for his assistance with this Board and getting it started. I understand we will have a co-moderator soon.

Joerg. Well ...."Wood Boats Rule". Did I mentioned that. LOL! Actually, no problem with any materials, designs, class, style, etc. This is a Forum to encourage and assist others who wish to build bboats and share their knoweldge/skills.

I am looking forward to your posts. What's new? Send us some pics.

You guys are the Best, Thanks for this forum, Thanx doug for getting it here and of course those great looking plans,,, One suggestion would be to use the Subject only for areas of building ie Motors, hull, hardware, esc, paint etc etc, this way later tey can be sorted and archived,,,, just a thought,,,,, or perhaps include a radio bar with a clickable icon that will do this,,,, cheers and thx again,,,,

So this maybe my next project, building a wood boat. So lets start with "Why do wood boats rule?" Fill me in with the goods. I've built a couple of gliders & prop-planes in the past from wood and they are easy to mend, customize and cheap in materials, but a boat I'm not sure? Weight? Strength?

I know here in this new forum is where I'll learn of the types of wood materials used in specific places on the boat, but also the types of coating and glues to use, and building techniques. Right?

I'll want to look into a boat that I can inter-change a neo-775 and
the ESC, well this time it'll be an ANDY-ESC. So lets go design shopping, I'll be looking for some pics.
Thanks guys!

Joerg: I like to use wood primarily for my boats but I also use other composite materials especially carbon fibre. I even use paper laminated (wood fibre, right?) - I'm a big fan of laminating combinations of wood and composites.
I hope this forum can be a discussion point of ALL techniques.

i am new to this whole rc bit. i have kids, and i would like to get into some rc action. i have an rc airplane, but not funtional. i have to put some money ionto it, and if i crash it i have to put more money into it. i figure with rc boating, there is little chances of crashing your boat, right? i need some tips and ideas on starting, and would like a good starter kit that i can build from stracth. i appreciate anybody that can help me out.

thank you,
new guy

Well let me be the first to welcome you then Mate! Good place to be if you are interested in running electric...

Which would you prefer?
Also, have you got a preference on what style of boat you would like to run?
Steven (Pagemaster) has a page on his site, that i couldnt find just now that goes through some of the differences of each of the 5-6 general types of hulls, which are Riggers, Hydros, Outboard Tunnels (best), Mono hulls and Cats there may be more but i am not sure...

Anyways he should be able to jump in and post a link to it to help you out.

Will you be sport running, or do you wish to race also? which brings me to the next question is where abouts in the US do you live cause some guys on here could live right round the coner from you! that woud be ideal for the new boaters IMO :)

hey kris,

thanks for the reply. i am interested in a sail boat. if you ever watched the movie 'stuart little' the boat that him and his dad worked on is the kind of boat i am interested in. i am not going to race. just for pure fun. something to get my son into. maybe if i am into it long enough, then maybe i will consider racing. but for right now, just for fun. i have seen some boats on ebay, but so not know what to look for. i mainly wnat a kit. start out from stratch, and build from there. i guess i need all around help.
