Anybody else used one of the surfrc's speedos??
I got my shark esc last week and finally got to run it.
here are the results.
I ran 6 packs back to back through it 4 6 cell and 2 7 cel.
14 double 05 with brush coolers etc. The esc was very smooth with it's 200 steps. The one I got is air cooled btw. I was barely able to feel any heat at all afterwards. It's the usual double potted water proof no setting to mess with like the rc hydros esc's.Only things is is small like maybe an inch wide by about 2.5 inches long. I't rated 6- 12 cells 75 amps air cooled and 85 water cooled. The next test will be for me when I get my b24 built with one of those newer 700bb b.4's on 12 cells.
Anyhow very stoked about:)))

I love my RC-Hydros its the one thing in my boat I dont have to worry about. I sunk my LSH at the last race, and the only thing im sure will still work when I get the boat back is the RC-Hydros.

Gar,
If you get a Shark he uses the same stuff I do. I designed it for him.

What the difference between the shark and the penguin?

Differences:
1) Size - 1.02 x 2.24
2) Shape. Long and slender.
3) Weight. Didn't measure it.
4) Current capacity. 75A Air, 85A Water.
5) Ratings. 6-12 cells, no opto-isolation, BEC.
6) Software. Oh, this is so much nicer. It auto-calibrates, beeps when it's ready to go, uses tri-color LED (red/yellow/green) to indicate status (blinks or solid, too).
7) PWM Frequency. About 30% higher, better for smaller motors
8) Price. www.surfrc.com
And best of all....
9) A different manufacturer! I only do the programming and unit testing, and soon that will be programming only.
It's an all-new design. About the only thing that's the same is a few of the resistors are the same value, and I use the same LED. Oh yes, they use the same Deans Ultra wire.
They are available from several dealers. www.surfrc.com and www.offshoreelectrics.com are selling them as well as some hobby shops in Californica. I don't know who else but I know he is or will be talking to all your favorite vendors.
Please keep in mind, this is HIS business and he's doing it the way he sees fit. I don't control him in any way, I just designed it and helped set up the production line. It's about as hands-off as it can possibly be.
Don will soon have his control out. It is the same size as the Shark but uses different FETs (for higher voltage rating) and it will be opto-isolated, for 6-14 or 12-21 cells, and no BEC. The software in it is very similar to the Shark control.

What does opto-isolation do for you?

Keeps the motor noise out of your receiver, thereby improving reliability.
