It looks like you build your own. Is there any off-the-shelf stuff that you recommend, altered or otherwise?

As far as I know, everything available on the market is much too large and heavy for micro/mini-sized boats with one exception.

Alan at Astec has a set of Stainless micro hardware available that looks very nice. Check it out - its the only stuff that I know of.

I just got done building some and it turned out nice.

Using .098 cable with soldered on brass tubing 1/8"

The strut is about 3/4" long and has bearings and all. You will see some pics shortly. The stub worked out well, small and very smooth.
