I can only speak for NAMBA, but there is no official course for 1/8 mile oval. For Electric we race on a 1/10 mile oval with a 170' straight and 30' turn radius.

I know the 1/10 coarse.
I need the official size of a 1/8 coarse.
I am going tomorrow to visit a friend, He wants to build a bigger pond on his property.
He wants to be sure that it meets the size required.
I suggested 420ft. X 220ft.

Larry, there is no 1/8 mile course, electric runs on 1/10 mile, nitro runs on 1/6 mile oval with a 318' straight 50" radius turn. I supose you can split the nitro and the electric course and come up with your own 1/8 mile course. ;)

The IMPBA rule book does show a 1/8 mile coarse.
15ft. Radius turns with 283 ft. strait.
15ft. rad. turns seems a bit tight.
our coares has 30ft. Rad. turns.

An other set of bouys 66ft. off of one end, would give you a 1/8 mile oval.
You could have two coarses on one pond.
This would be much better for the faster and bigger boats.

OK, I get what you were asking, for electric we have no official course for 1/8 scale hydro since it dose not officially exist. The Nitro 1/8 scale hydro runs on the standard nitro 1/6 course. What our club is planning is to run the 1/8 scale Hydros on the standard nitro course, we run our electric course inside of the nitro course now, so it won't require anymore work on our end.

We found N2 & O classes are fine running on a nitro couse, but really, 12 cells and up really shine on a nitro course. 66' might get a little narrow if there were a lot of boats, but it would probably be fine. Good to see someone is going to try a bigger course!

We ran our electrics a couple times on the nitro course in District 1 when we were invited to run an exhibition class at a nitro race.

The course is a LOT bigger (don't miss a buoy, it hurts to do an extra lap!), but you can really get up and go with it.

The correct size of the NAMBA nitro course is 380 ft. on the strights and a 40 ft. radius. it is a 1/6 of a mile, Sorry dan

These are the specs of the three IMPBA race courses:

NITRO: 1/6 MILE - Total Distance - 880'
Turn Radius - 35'
Straight length - 330'

1/8 MILE - Total Distance - 660'
Turn Radius - 15'
Straight Length - 283'

ELECTRIC 1/10 MILE - Total Distance - 528.5'
Turn Radius - 30'
Straight Length - 170'

I'll have to assume that the NAMBA nitro courses are similar because NAMBA does not see fit to publish their rules online.
