I just bought a 290/30/4, the major thing I noticed compared to my other Pletts is that this one doesn't have the typical timing adjustments I see on my other Plett's. Is this a strange Plett, or am I missing something? There are NO screws between the shaft end mounting pins or the screws holding the brush assembly to the brush end of the can. I'm used to seeing a "two halve" motor, brush housing and "can" (magnet) ends. This one is solid from the magnets up to the top end of the brush assembly, with no slots there to change the timing. This was a FDM version of a 290/30, if that means anything. What am I missing? The Plettenberg site says the 290/30 has adjustable timing, but nothing like this can in their diagrams. Any insight?

Thanks,
Paul

I have been trying to figure out what the numbers mean. I cannot locate a description. I think it means length-diameter-# turns. Is that correct?

Andy, You wanted a pic, here 'ya go!!! :) Didn't quite get Chris's sig on the can (FYI, for those that don't know, it does seem that Chris signs every Plett can he sells).

Kmot, Not sure how Plett does their numbering, but it just "sort of" equates to size, at least with the 2nd number from a quick glance. Feel free to check out their site, click "motor - general view" or whatever it says: http://www.plettenberg-motoren.com/

Now, the pic- as you can see, torque ring removed, no typical timing slots.... It's Chris's can, it's got his sig on it!!! hahahaha

Take Care,
Paul

Paul, I have looked at their site before, completely. Every single page. No explanation as to the numbering system.

Strange.

Does not having adjustable timing mean you can run it in N1 Hydro :D

Wow..either that is very old or you have a rare plett. I have never seen one like that.

What was it sold to you as?

Sold as a 290/30/4. Take a look here, a bit of info further down:

I'll give Chris a call and find out what the deal is. :)

Chris does not sign every plett he sells, I have bought 2 pletts and 3 hackers from him which he did not sign. I did some research and it looks like the ultra motor, but I've always been told that ultras are pletts.

Yes, Ultra motors are exactly the same as a Plett. The one in discussion here is a older version, before the style we are used to seeing today. I've seen it before.
