Heres some pics of my `U64 Squire Shop' made by Valasko this 43"monster weighs in at only 3 1/2 lbs bare hull. Preparation for paint will be minimal due to the excellent finish and deck to hull almost seamless const.
I will probably divide the cowl into 2 or 3 sections to permanantly attaching the front cab/nose and leaving the whole rear cowl or partial (engine area only) for removal. Depends on the what they did on the real boat and how water (flip) resistant i want to make it. Opinions?

Ken,
The real boat hatch started right behind the driver. You can see a picture of it on your MRP Hydro Sport box. Or get the Newton plans.
I would leave the whole top removable just like he has there. You can never have too much access to the insides, and you might want to re-position the cells and motor after some testing.
I would get the boat ready and run it a few times prior to painting it.
Andy
Hey Ken,
I WANT ONE!!!!!! On the hatch, by looking at the pics what I would do is make a sub- hatch and leave the main as is. Maybe use cowl locks in the rear and a pin on the front to hold the main down.
Hmmm, I wonder what other name the boat ran.:D That is a sweet deal you got.
Paul.

ANDY i plan on getting it into the water by the end of the month just as a feasability study.Paint and detail will come in the spring.
PAUL excellent idea on having a subhatch and leave the main alone. Theres a drop ledge molded in around the entire opening that will work perfectly. Mr Valasko said he only does them in runs of 4 if you can get 3 more racers you could probably talk him into doing another light layup run. The hull was campained as a few other paint schemes. The U64 Squire Shop was the most popular. :D

Paul, you can check out Roger Newton's plans 109 for some other variations on that hull.

That is REAAAAAAALLLLLY sweet.Nice choice. From experience I would Cut the hatch just forward of the cockpit and tape down the rest.Save the weight.Or as big as that boat is you could just build a balsa box inside the hull and set everything in like a rigger and just snap on the hatch then there will be no worry about lifting paint with the tape.

Thanks Dennis, I think i'm falling in love with these big boats. So much more room for setup and access. Whens your BUD coming?

This weekend was very productive. Installed `Striker Hydro' alum turn fin, custom S.S. strut asm (adjustable thru bottom mounted) and custom kickup wedge rudder asm were installed. Rudder mounting bracket was machined from a donar forged alum linesman clamp.
Finish up next weekend by installing CF stringers for 800GR`XL' motor, stuffing tube, CF `L' sec reinforcements for cell areas, Hitec 645MG rudder servo CF mount and wiring etc.
Target test date weekend of the Nov 23rd if all goes well.

Ken FYI
I was speaking with Mark Grimm and Don Mayher this week end and they spoke very highly of the Valasko hull. They said that they hold 9 different records with it.

Jim
thanks
I was doing some reading last night and realised that would be the case as it blew over at Acapulco in 1981 killing Bill Muncey -I assume the boat was destroyed

Actually the Hydro Museum has it and it will probably be restored at some point.
