Hey Dennis is arguably the offshore king but I have a problem
with Offshore records for SAW events.

LETS SEE THE BOATS GO 4 MINUTES NOW!!!!!!

DO A PASS AND LETS SEE 4 MORE MINUTES!!!!!

These are sprint set-ups! Relates to offshore no way at all.

I give all the SAW boaters credit for their set-ups.

These do not relate to real world conditions.

They do advance the hobby and I wish I could attend!

Hey Howard,

I see where you are coming from... but have a totally differnet openion! SAW racing and oval racing have nothing to do with one another except the cell title descriptions. Your compairing Nascar to NHRA at this point... Beleive me when I say... they are totally different. One of Dennis's SAW boats could not be tossed onto a offshore course tomorrow and expected to run just as setup. As neither could any of the others that were there. The first year or two maybe... but the SAWs has gotten to a point now where you cant just toss a good boat out there and expect a record... you have to be VERY serious about the boat in order to achieve the speed.

Look at Dennis's new N2 Offshore record... WOW... 41 MPH in an N2 Offshore boat. I wasnt even coming close to that... Once he set that record I didnt even try again! My boat runs easily into the mid to high 30's ... held the record last year at 34mph... but jumping into the 40's is just amazing... I'll come loaded for bear next year... but this year... I had no idea dennis was bringing a boat that would fit in the palm of your hand! hahaha Congrats to him... that boat was nasty!

When you see the video's of his P-Offshore boat run... you'll be amazed too... that was one hell of a sight... and VERY fast! Dennis did his homework and deserves those records hands down!!

Even though the classes have the same name/description... its still not the same venue... Offshore SAW and Offshore Oval are two totally different animals!

Hope that helps....
Donnie

Have to agree with Donnie, the SAWs have nothing to do with oval racing. The off shore boats still have to conform to the definition of an off shore boat. None of the boats would be able to finish a 1/2 mile race none the less a 4 min race regardless of the class. The boats I brought with me have never been in an oval race. They were built for one type of racing only, as were many of the others that were there.
My opinion about advances in the hobby from the SAWs is that very little of what we did out there can relate back to oval racing, with the exception of knowing how much speed a particular hull can handle. Most of the setups I used would not go past 3 runs on the course without dropping off speed. As time goes on I expect everyone that goes to race at the Saws will have a specific boat for straight line racing

Dennis was a man on a mission. I think just about every thing he touched set a record! He is the KING

Jeese man is there anything I do you agree with ???:D :D .Any ways,I know what you mean Howie. When I heard that The offshore records were broken with some BS oval boats I was pissed so I have made it my mission to make sure that Offshore records are held with offshore boats !And believe me you would lauph at me trying to run those on an oval course.
But seriuosly based on what you are saying one would have to run a LSH for 10 laps and then run the course.
If you feel that strongly Howard you can do what others have done, buy a ticket. Get on a plain and go out there and give it your best shot!!!

Dennis no hard feelings meant. You did a great job. Even in oval offshore trim your boats are ballistic.

Maybe for the SAWs it should be called Full Body Boats.

I would love to watch but I don't know if I would want to compete.

I do wish some more guys would post there set-ups.

P.S. I am working on a new unlimited Offshore for MI.
Could be interesting. I think we are both going to have to
have straight line speed of over 42 0r 45 mph. We both hit about
40 or 41 on the gun last year.
