A History

John Hacker designed Miss Pepsi for the Dossin family of Detroit. Unlike his successful My Sweetie, Pepsi was twin vee step with twin Allison engines driving into a central vee drive gear box. As I poured over pictures, notes and drawings made by others of the museum boat, I became convinced the John Hacker used Lindsay Lord's "Naval Architecture of Planing Hulls" (1946 First Edition) as his guide. It all matches Lord's recommended practice. Given the success of the real boat, I decided to not change the formula and was rewarded with a fast well mannered boat. The chine angle in the bump step shows the genius of Hacker, unlike most step hulls, Pepsi has no inclination to swap ends in a turn.
