Plans from Roger Newton....

Kelly and Jim

It is my understanding that during the Unlimited racing season it takes a lot longer to get plans from Roger because he is Crew Chief on one of the Unlimited teams and is very busy/away a lot. When I ordered mine in the winter, I received them in 2-3 weeks

Roger won't forget about you regardless. You will get them. I ordered a plan set from him that was a very old boat not ordered at all. (My Sweetie) and he had yet to draw them, I waited awhile but he came through even though I'd forgotten about it!

I was wrong

It's the 1988.

Does anyone have a picture of the U00 1988 Circus boat? It was a dead shot on Rogers site.

Circus Circus!

HOLY CRAP i leave this site for a few days and TERRY announces he's building a 1/8th! Whats the world coming toooooo.....

For a guy that used to run strictly monos this is jumping in with both feet buddy!

Congrats, looking forward to having a little competition for the Squire next season. Is going to be a glass slipper or scratch built boat? (I have a good idea of which motor you will be running)

well

I found a super hot deal on a partially built Newton plan. It even came with a scale driver. Trouble is I can't for the life of me figure out which plan it is. It doesn't look exactly like any of them. The closest is the Winston Eagle/Plan 158. That's probably the direction I will go with it. I'm trying to track down the gentleman that actually assembled it.

The construction on this thing thus far is stellar. I little heavy but I can deal with that.

I have a couple ideas for motors.

okay

So I had help finding a super hot deal on it. Thanks Kelly!

I think we've figured out for sure what it is too. It's a 1994 Smokin Joes. Very cool.

Is it blue and yellow or purple and yellow? No way I'm springin $200 for stickers. I'll just do it myself. LOL Maybe I'll airbrush all the decals. That would be cool.

Randy has the Smokin Joe's decals digitized for a vinyl cutter, not sure what year or how much they changed year to year, but it might be worth a call.

TERRY, i've seen the real Smokin Joes a few times up close and some of nitro 1/8 versions, it one of the most strikingly colorful displays of advertising ever put in on hydro in my opinion. Just awesome!!!!
Do it right Terry and you can always get your investment out of it if need be. Pacific Graphics did my Squire (gold leaf) graphics was worth every penny. I'll have to drop by and check it out sometime.

THE SKY IS FALLING

The danged stickers are more than the hull. How can that be?

I'll probably scan the paint scheme. Chop it up into pieces in Autocad. Then import them onto the stika and cut them that way.

OR!

Cut them onto vinyl mask and airbrush them. At least some of them will get air brushed for sure. Probably the big stuff. Large text and such. Makes for a smoother finish. Then sticker the little pieces and parts.

This thing is so cool I'm acutally going to try to put a real clear coat on it. House of Kolor Urethane probably. It will weigh in at just under 14 pounds bare hull by the time I get done with it. LOL I'm up to about 4.5 pounds already but do NOT spin a gear right in front of me. Some of the framing in the sponsens is black walnut. Built like a brick poop house.
