Newcommer into 1/16 Electric need construction advice

Hello all,

I was fortunate enough to pick up an older 1/16 scale ABS round nose hull. It came with the Miss Hawaii Kai decals. I got a chance to talk to Andy about the boat and he made a few suggestions on setting the guy up. So maybe he can jump in and remind me who made the hull. I hope you all can be patient with me, because I am going to need step by step help on the appropriate way of putting this boat together. My goal is to get it together the correct way the first time.

With all that being said, what are my first few steps? I am going to assume the transom doubler will need to be installed. However, one was not supplied with the hull. Do I use ply or balsa? What thickness? What is the best kind of adhesive to use building an ABS hull?

Thanks in advance.

Oh… one more thing. What class would I be running in if I decided to begin racing? Is this particular class going to be run at the Michigan Cup?

Mike,

I have the assembly manual for this at home, electronic format. I wrote it for them.

It's an Electric Thunder Classic II. ET is out of business now but he visits here on occasion.

The decals were by Sheltered Productions - he is here all the time, and part of the E-RCU group.

That would be a great hull for N2 Sport Hydro. In fact, I was going to enter my Kai into that class had I been able to go.

Send me your e-mail address and I'll get the file out to you.

Man, you got that putty at a steal!

Andy

Hello Andy,

Thanks again for chiming in!!!

I have a 3 page instruction manual that was included the schematic. However, it was fairly basic. Especially, for a first time builder such as myself.

My email is m.ball@ssss.com

Thanks

N2 sport hydro class

Hey Andy,

Which motor/speedo combination would I need for the N2 sport hydro class?

Do I need to go brushless to be completive?

Thanks
Mike

N2 Sport Hydro is a Michigan-only class.

I think they are requiring car can motors (no Astros) along the lines of M2 but on 6 cells.

Can anyone from the MI club comment on this subject? Is there going to be an N2 sport hydro class? If so what are the requirements to compete in this class? I looked on the MI cup website, but I couldn't find much information to answer these questions for me.

Thanks to all
Mike
