Speed Controller Rating...
For example, I'm planning on setting up with a 700bb SS1 motor with 12-cells... The Astro Flight 212D will handle this, but would I be better off with the 207D instead? I would think it would give me room to play with cell numbers and also a little bit of extra breathing room... if there aren't any drawbacks to using an overrated ESC... They're the same price, so that's not really an issue... (but it does make me believe there is something different between them that allows them to function more optimally in their design parameters...) Thanks,

Darin,
I ALWAYS recommend to my customers that they should purchase an ESC that covers what they will be running next season as well as this year. If you think you might be upgrading your power, get an ESC that will handle that. Our ESCs cover 6-14 and 10-32 cells - and right in the middle of that 4-cell overlap is 12 cells, which is the most popular power setup. This gives the ability for a racer to select a control that will handle their N and O boats, or their P, Q, S, and T boats and still only make one purchase. BTW, if you're in Classic Thunder or E-RCU, give Jim Clark a phone call about the annual ESC club buy. Andy |

Andy,
That's what I thought... Are you expecting a line-up waiting for the new line of ESCs in January?? If so, what do I need to do to get on the list for one??

I already have over 20 on backorder!
To get on the list, join E-RCU or Classic Thunder and then talk to Jim Clark. Andy |

How can I get more information on them? Also, what is "E-RCU"??? I saw Classic Thunder listed under the Clubs section, but don't see anything that looks like an E-RCU. Not to say it may not be there... I just didn't see anything that looked like that...

I take it back... Looks like Washington might be the perfect place to join Classic Thunder... Since it's located in the Puget Sound!
NOTE TO SELF: Go look BEFORE you ask!!

Puget Sound - the world headquarters of real men's boats
![]() E-RCU runs hulls similar to Classic Thunder's and they are also in the Seattle area. If you're into real hydros, these are the guys to talk to! I will be shipping in January, maybe even sooner. Andy |

Andy E-rcu and Classic thunder both run 1/10 scale hydros so they are the same. Its just slight differences in the turn fin sizes, powerplants, battery capacitys that are the main differences between clubs. Jim Clark runs the same boat in both clubs as do a few other guys just by changing fins to fit the rules. 1 boat 2 clubs what could be better.

Yes, I know about the differences. That's why they are similar but not the same.

Slow down guys! I don't even have my first boat in my hands yet (well.... not exactly true... I did just receive the ZigZag racer I purchased to use for a retrieval... er.... I mean for my son to drive!
).My intentions are to race the boat that's on it's way (OM 26) in whatever class it'll fit, then get a nice N1 or N2 mono, then we'll see where we go from there... I AM interested in Hydros, so that would be a logical progression...

Sorry Andy just meant that the hulls are the same between the two clubs.
