Hi,
Do you have separate feeds to the 2 cooling coils?

G'day Brent
Another pic. I wanted to have some images before putting on the deck.
Was almost a shame to close it up.
I tried posting more but I am at the upload limit as I think the files were too large. Still trying to work this forum thing out...

Hi Laurie,
I actually have 4 feeds and I have kept the coils separate.
If you try 2 coils, expose the rear vent openings. I mounted spacers between the windings of the rear coil since this pic was taken to expose the vents,

Hi Robert. Looks like you added some interesting pieces to the basic kit structure. The cross piece at the sponson transom looks custom with the 2 screws. Neat work!

Robert,
Can you take and post some more shots of your "plumbing" including the water intakes? Have you tried this cooling layout before? Do you know if this increase in cooling will improve the motor efficiency? Or you just do it to keep things cooler and maybe get more life out of the components?

I am thinking about an additional water pickup just to the motor and leaving the rudder pickup exclusively for the ESC. Too many possibilities.
Laurie

Thanks Doug,
I am sure you know, access to the batteries with the main bulkhead cross bar in place would be hell. I decided to install a removable brace to reinstate the torsional integrity of the hull. The brace has locating dowels as well as the screws for absalute zero slop.
Andrewg mentioned that he removed the cross section entirely and did not bother with anything else.
As soon as I can I will post some more shots of the boat as I have included some interesting scale details,
Regards,
Robert

Hello Laurie,
I will post some more photos for you to have a look at. But I installed 4 pickups 2 each side behind the sponson trailing edges, Was not my first choice in terms of pick up points but I thought that it would be the best for the least amount of plumbing. As it turned out it actually made things much more complex as I ended running hard plumbing to the rear behind the engine mounting plate otherwise it would have made access difficult with the amount that is going on at the terminal end of the motor.
I think cooler is always better for electrics however I am not sure whether brushed motors have a optimum temp they run best at.
My thinking is we have all this free cooling capability why not use it?
May be better though to have 2 pickups and have Y junctions if you want to feed more than 2 cooling points.
Regards, Robert

Hello Fleetmaster 1...It's to race but it has alot of scale detail. I have tried to make it as close to scale as possible even though I have taken some liberties that I am sure the purists will forgive me for. It's nearly finished and it looks good. Even my wife approves!

I wondered about removing that piece. I can't tell from the photo, but does the brace lift up or push forward? Cool idea!

Cool!Where are going to race?
I believe that the cooler the better-most electrical devices increase resistance as temp rises.Unlike an I.C engine that needs to heat up to a set temp range for maximum efficiency(compression pressure).
Just make sure that the water doesn't pass the components too fast.

My local club in Melbourne is Western Districts, I was a member as a kid
but does not seem to be alot of FE activity here so I will have to see what is around in the way of comps.
First I have to to see how well my Classic performs, it could be completely off the mark

Very nice work. That colour coat of pink paint looks flawless. Nice scale details. Keep the pics coming as she get further along.

Robert,
Some great "unique" detailing, lights and all!
I hope she runs as cool as she looks!

That is just plain awesome!! Wow!!

Eddie Hansen should have a driver for your boat. That would be the finishing touch!

That is great work. It's a vision I imagined somebody would do.
I recommend using Eddie's 12th scale driver. Fit's nicely
