You will all know that I have this in kit form at 1/16th. Well I am now working on a 1/12th scale version... a bit smaller than this but they will run well on 4s and fat in the car more easily ( Mate for the paynpak). The biggest cost in laser is set up cutting is cheaper. My supplier sticks the set up costs across the number of kits I ask for and so it gets lost. It does mean that one offs are more expensive. You can cut a lot of the costs by doing the layout yourself.

Also got the U7 coming at 1/12th - prototype is half built on the bench and cowl mould nearly done!!

Kenny please don't take this to hard but your building this as if it were a shelf model.

Please add some large dia lightening holes to center section bulkheads. Easier to run cooling plumbing, wiring & drive line installation. Also lightening holes in the sponson bulkheads will help drain water it you ever ingest any, it happens.

Also consider partial elimination of forward center section bulkhead for cell mounting. Keep in mind you will need to figure the placement/mounting of all electronics; Motor, Lipos, ESC & Steering Servo for best guess CG before the deck gos on, this is critical.

Set your goals for speed, do you plan to race it? and max budget. Then we can offer suggestions for power etc.

BTW nice clean build! So far......

The boat is 80% Balsa, The wood i use are Balsa and 1/16 plywood .and is laser cut and is 42” long and 21” wide .the bulkhead and rail are 1/4" balsa ,and the deck and sonson and transom and transom doubler are 1/16 ply .So far the boat it less then a LB . I would get in contact with John Borden, or phil thomas look over on the 1/8th scale suppliers thread, either that or use bread and butter method for stacked thick balsa sheet and carve it, the atlas is fairly simple

Hi Kennyrach

I would suggest carving the cowl from bluefoam, i think you guys call it dow corning insulation foam, it comes in pink, blue yellow etc etc.

Carve the shape you want and sand it, then glass over it using epoxy (polyester will eat the foam) once the glass dries you can use thinners to dissolve the foam, or leave some in there for flotation
