1/8th Scale Miller High Life U-31 FE WoF-Newton Plans Build

I did not realize there were so many people getting into the 1/8th scale and bigger FE hydroplane builds. I have started on the topic hull using the dumas kit for the center former and Newton plans for the sponsons. Its a hybrid wood over foam center former, and newton stick built sponsons. I do not know what motor or ESC I will use just yet. I am seeing a lot of people doing a lot of different things, and I am waiting for feedback on their results. I am also on hold right now with this project, as I have a person in cali that is doing a full one piece cowling to fit the miller high life and circus hulls. it is based on the dumas cowling, but he is making it perfect, not just so so, but a perfect fit. Should have the first part done soon as he is tooling the molds now. I did the epoxy turbine tube myself since its FE, didn't want the weight of aluminum! Here are some pics of my build so far. Enjoy, Mike

Jim, its the Dumas cowling. My guy is tooling it to do in epoxy, and should have the first one done this week.

Here are some new ones. Got some more of the holes cut out, and got my Phil Thomas wing set..Top notch! To the winglets added back to the rear of the non trip, got the Fin brackets added, and top deck trimmed a little more. Also glued in the front canard assembly. Enjoy, Mike

I also got some preliminary pricing on the epoxy cowling and the windshield my guy is offering. I also have a price on epoxy turbine tube that I make. For those interested, PM me.

Darin, I actually built it halfway, then I had a request for a Circus Circus (hence why its not the Miller High Life) so I sold the gentleman this one. If you are interested in one, I can build you one. I did this one for FE, and I figure you would want the same! haha, Mike Luszcz

Oh, Darin, I am doing laser cut 1/8th and 1/10th scale kits now too. The circus framing is already done for a kit if you want to build your own. Check out the thread on IW, OSE and here. ('82 Executone build on IW and OSE) and 1/10 8255 kit on Rum Runner.
