This new white gelcoated Gecko is a Mini-Offshore-Boat for 400–480 sized Motors. The hull and hatch are hand laid epoxy-glass, not the common polyester glass or ABS. Epoxy is stronger and lighter than polyester.
This little (34 cm long by 10 cm wide- 13 1/3 inch long by 4 inches wide) is very fast and can handle waves well. The small size and performance has made the Gecko into a cult boat in Europe. It is raced widely. The quality from MHZ is flawless.
This new hull is sold with MHZ's aluminum/brass rudder specifically designed for the Gecko and MHZ's 185mm propshaft,(4mm Prop thread), stuffing tube and precision coupler.
In addition, a new Hopf Viper Black 400 motor with an integrated electronic hi-frequency speed control is included. The Viper motor has a $10 stator ring to increase torque (=acceleration).
The light green pieces are the laser-cut epoxy-glass transom doubler (to be glued on the inside of the transom, to strengthen the rudder mount. This piece is predrilled so it serves as a template for easy and correct placement of the rudder. The angle of the rudder from vertical avoids the need for turnfins which' friction robs speed. This is specially critical with small boats like this.
The other laser-cut epoxy-glass piece shown in the picture is used to fix the aluminum motor mounting flange at the end of the stuffing tube. It is predrilled and preshaped for a simple glue-in on the floor of the boat. Again, because it is precut, it ensures correct placement of the propshaft. Precision coupler is "hidden" in the motor mounting flange, but is also included in the set.
